How the verdict works
The 50% rule: if a repair costs less than half of what you'd pay for a replacement, repairing is almost always the better financial decision. Between 50–80%, the device's age decides it. Above 80%, replacement usually wins.
Age matters: phones typically receive 5–7 years of software support from launch. Repairing a 2-year-old device buys years of use; repairing a 6-year-old one may only postpone the inevitable.
